Exam-project in media and communication

My first semester at IT University of Copenhagen is lagging towards the end, which means exam projects in all the courses. The 14. december i handed in my first project, which were the media and communication project. I decided to write about blogging and motivation. You can read my abstract here:

This paper examines the aspect of motivation behind blogging. Not for the blogger or the reader, but what the blogger does to motivate the reader to read his posts, and what tools he use to get them to return. The purpose of this is to fill a small gap in the research of blogging, making it possible to create better content to internet in the future. To examine this, two bloggers will get their sites analyzed, based on Lisbeth Thorlacius model from 2004, and after that the content based on Abraham Maslows theory on hierarchy of needs. Afterwards the two bloggers will be interviewed based on the analysis. The analysis will be backed up with theories on web 2.0, social network sites and blogging in general.
The results were, that the personal aspect is really important on a blog, but especially the fact that a blog is a story that never ends, really catches the reader. At the same time, creating a small community around the blog is important, with comments, loyal readers, subscribers etc. The visual and aesthetic aspect of the communication with the reader is also important, where a good navigation and neutral, but well chosen, colors are important, just like testing the user experience to improve the site once in a while.
