Thoughts on Google Docs

Now I’m close to the end of all the group work this semester, and I thought I would take a little look back on some of the tools we used for communication along the way, starting with Google Docs.

Easy to begin

I believe that getting a doc up and running is really quick, which is really an advantage. You can quickly start any type of document you like (word, powerpoint, excel etc.), click on share and invite who ever you like via email.

The only process here that is a bit slow, is that your friends have to log in to their emails and accept your doc-share request. Google needs a function where you can accept and see the document, when you are already logged into documents.

Everybody can work on the same time

When all have accepted and you are in the same document is where Google Docs really shines. Everybody can write in the same document on different parts or even correct each other as they write.

There is also a chat function in the side, so you can discuss things and not fill up the document with pointless chat.

In the end…

… I believe the tool have been a great succes for me and my groups. We tried it several times so we could all work from home and i works perfectly. Only trouble is when you have a slow connection, you also are some seconds behind the latest addition.

But definitely a tool i would suggest using later on in my studies.
